We(my son, his wife, 9 month old baby, and myself) had the honor of seeing Chuck Berry when he played at Musicfest in Cranford, New Jersey this past saturday. This great musician can still ROCK at the age of 80.
I really didn't want to go to the show in the park, but went anyway. Nobody that saw this show enjoyed it as much as I did. His backing band was also excellent. The harmonica player (his daughter?) was outstanding on harmonica and vocals. I have been a fan of Chuck Berry since the first time I heard "Maybelline" in the mid 50s, and my favorite song by Mr. Berry is Reelin' & Rockin'. This is the third time I've seen him live, and like a fine wine, he improves with age. He is a national treasure.
Long live rock & roll !
Long live Chuck Berry!

"National Treasure"

Now that's one of the coolest things I think I've ever read about my father. Thank you for the great tribute!

The concert in Cranford was amazing! It was the first time I've seen Chuck Berry live and I can't begin to describe how good it was, even without hearing "My Dingaling" lol. It was a family crowd after all!

Anyway, CBII, I have some really amazing pictures I'd love to share with you from that day. I'm going to post them on JRPics dot com in the events section, but I've been too busy to do so. If you want I can email them to you, just contact me. You won't be disappointed.

How about you put a link here to the site once you have them uploaded?

Thanks for motivating me to update my website! Here is the link:

If you give me the names of the other musicians I will add them to the titles of the pages.

Great pictures! A happy and good looking Chuck Berry (looks no day older than 60) already rockin' at noon! Also playing Junior's guitar while he is probably fixing a broken guitar string on his father's guitar backstage.

The musicians on this show were (beside Chuck Berry):
Darlin Ingrid Berry (vocals, harmonica)
Charles Berry Jr. (guitar)
James Marsala (bass)
Bob Lohr (piano)
Keith Robinson (drums)

These are fantastic photo's!

Did you by chance have any with my father and Bob Lohr (Keyboards) or with Bob playing by him self? That would round out the entire line up for that show.

Cool, you caught a couple of shots with my father playing my guitar.

wolfgangguhl - Thanks for the compliments and everyone's names. I updated the page titles to reflect the people in the pictures.

CBII - Thanks for the compliments. Unfortunately I missed Bob Lohr. This was my first time taking any concert pictures so I didn't really think enough about what I should be taking. I got there about 15 minutes late and it took all my effort to fight through the crowd to get a spot where I could take pictures that weren't too far away, to far below the stage and with not many heads in front of me (I'm kind of short!). I do have a couple more of you that are pretty good. I just didn't post them on the website because I caught your hand in front of your face. I may put them up later. I also unexpectedly caught your father driving out of the concert with some hot blonde with red nail polish in the passenger seat! Not great pictures due to the reflections.
