I believe it's a Fender twin-reverb and as far as I'm aware always has been :) they're good amps though they don't "break up" unless you really push them... which he did ;)

On the topic, I'll repeat a link I once put here. It's a great story.

Doug is correct. The DualShowman Reverb Head and Dualshowman Loudspeaker Cabinet combination has been the tools of choice for decades.

Thanks for the info guys, I've always wondered. Since I just bought a new amp (Line 6 Spinder Jam) and a new guitar(Ephiphone , Les Paul Standard, Mahogany, red with gold hardware) I wont be buying Mr. Berry's setup soon. :o

...FYI, the Dual Showman combo is also the preferred setup for surf legend Dick Dale and most of the serious surf guitar players as well...plus the standalone Fender Reverb unit of course...

After posting, I went to Youtube and entered Fender Dual Showman. Wow, the clips where great, the amp sounded great.

In the videos I have seen and in the movie "Hail Hail Rock-N-Roll" Chuck does use a dual showman, but he uses two power heads!

The reason is because his guitars, usually a ES-355 or a ES 345 are "stereo" where you can use two seperate amps, (by using a "Y" chord, each pick-up is wired seperately") thus the two seperate power heads for the dual showman! If you look closely at Hail, Hail, Rock-N-Roll you can see a chord going to each power head atop of the Dual Showman speaker cabinet. Those are the older models, I have a 70's ES-345, and I use a "Y" chord! The newer ES-355 and ES-345's are different. They can be played with a mono chord, (both pick-ups will work together like a normal guitar), or using two chords for the "stereo" which you can play thru two different amps!

Hope that helps out!
