Hello all,

My name is Cieran and I am new to the Chuck Berry forum - please be kind! I am a fairly late converter to the music of Mr Berry - I was always aware of him but had never taken the time to really study him at great length (please excuse this heinous crime - I am only in my 20's!).

However when I saw a BBC4 broadcast of his 1972 concert with Rocking Horse a couple of years back my jaw nearly hit the floor - ever since then I have sought out his work on the likes of amazon & spotify. This leads me neatly on to my request - would anyone be so kind as to share this legendary concert with me? I have already got one version of it but the audio is out of sync and it does not include all of the songs that were in the BBC4 broadcast.

I have come across someone selling the BBC4 broadcast on DVD here:

http://lancashire.olx.org.uk/dvd-chuck-berry-live-the-bbc-1972-with-the-liverpool-band-rocking-horse-blues-guitar-iid-43431511

I am quite happy to pay for a copy of this DVD if no-one can help me, however I think it is a shame that this is not more widely available and that money is being made out of the situation. I know others are in a similar situation to me so hopefully someone will be able to help.

Many Thanks

p.s. I was unsure as to the exact rules regarding the requesting of unofficial items like this - I hope I haven't broken any forum rules....

Cieran:

Most of that most excellent '72 London performance is available for free on YouTube. Here's a YouTube link from that show...I consider this clip one of the finest Chuck performances ever recorded:

Cieran--

You've got good taste. I (another latecomer!) have been following and listening to Chuck Berry for 40 years, and those videos make my jaw drop every time. Especially "Carol," which Mr. Lohr directed us to in a post here a long time ago. It's perfection. I'd love to get a good copy-- but I watch them all on youtube, which is about the best thing the internet has ever given us. Peter

Hello Cieran!! :D
The 1972 BBC Show is the best footage ever captured of Chuck. After Elvis passed away they came out with a film called - This Is Elvis. A very good film by the way. Well, you could take the 1972 BBC show and title it - This Is Chuck Berry and let the footage roll and the rest is self explanatory - you would not need to say more......

Here's another clip from that great show - Let It Rock!!

Hi Cieran
I have a dvd of the show called 'Chuck Berry with Rocking Horse'. Took me ages to track it down with lots of help, not least from CB11, who was most kind regarding my request at the time

Jimmy Cambells band Rocking Horse backed the great CB in this concert. Jimmy died a few years ago and is sadly missed by all who knew him and his music in Liverpool (his music is worth a look on Youtube)

CB11 sent a nice email regarding Jimmy at the time of his death and even directed me to youtube clips, which of course, as with this dvd, CB receives no royalties

Anyway, I will try and make a copy for you if you like, no charge but you’ll need to give me a little time as I will probably need to ask my nephew to copy it for me. If you do want me to, get in touch with your contact details and I’ll do my best – The great and still (in my opinion), grossly underrated CB is truly outstanding at the concert

Kind regards

Julian – Liverpool, England.

Cieran, Here's Beer Drinkin' Woman from the Sounds for Saturday BBC 1972 Concert.

Chuck performed this song at the April, 2010 Blueberry Hill Show, it was my wifes favorite song of the evening. I was very glad to hear it in person myself. :D
