I was lucky enough to have seen and met the Master way back in 1965 when he was touring the UK. Us Brits love him and he has a massive following - especially amongst musicians who have been inspired by his incredible talent. The Beatles and Stones were early cover bands in their formative years and introduced Chuck's talent to a wider audience who took to him like a 'duck to water' or should it be a duckwalk?

Now 80+ and still whupping up a storm. The guy is a true legend and I was so proud to have met him briefly. Take a look at my website as I have a dedicated page about this great memory:

Although I have been a professional comedy entertainer for many years, I still do some vocal gigs and feature many of Chuck's hits in the show - audiences of ALL ages love to hear these great R&B classics and it takes me back to my years as lead singer with several pop groups. Most of us young 60s bands covered Chuck's hits and they gave us a flavour of US culture with those image laden lyrics apart from the driving sound of the chugging guitar tracks.

Happy belated Birthday to the main man!

Hi I first saw Chuck in the UK, I think January 64, in Lincoln, it was the night after he was unable to complete a performance in Sheffield and he just rocked on way past the time he was meant to finish, "To make it up to the fans". Since coming to Perth, Western Australia I saw Chuck 3 times in the seventies and was lucky enough to be invited up on stage to jive after he saw us jiving in the aisle and upsetting the management "stay cool" was his advice. On one of those occassions he invited us back to his dressing room for what proved to be an extended chat, we were there about an hour or more - I have the autograph to prove it! Just waiting for the next time he blesses WA with his presence!! John D
