cleberkisser,
The people of Porto Alegre ROCKED! We really loved that show. Everyone was really on that night and the crowd was fantastic! I hope we get to come back at the end of the year or first part of next year. I would love to be in Brazil in the Summer!
Thank you very much.

...all I can tell you is that Brazil+Porto Alegre + Chuck Berry = The Perfect Rock & Roll Storm!!! I'm still buzzin' over that last show. According to Jim Marsala, who as everyone knows has played bass w/ Chuck for 35 years, this was possibly the best show Chuck has ever played since Jim has been his bandleader. It was unfreakinbelievable...The great thing is that apparently, every other person showed up with either a video-enabled camera or full-on video recorder and posted at least 40-50 clips from the PA gig alone on YouTube for the world to see. As for me, this Brazilian tour was the highlight of my playing career to date due to the crowd response. I have played blues/rock piano all over the States and Europe, from small clubs to festival gigs in front of 20-30 thousand people. The crowd in PA and Curitiba the night before were the most wild & crazy rock fans ever. In PA, we had a killer opening blues band, Fernando Norohna & Black Soul...easily one of the best "young gun" blues guitarists on the planet...who knew he was in Brazil??? They kicked serious ass, threw down the gauntlet & Chuck took it from there to the stratosphere.... Fernando told me later (over killer Brazilian BBQ and about 10 gallons of Brazilian beer ..haha) that he actually was in tears a couple of times because Chuck was so good. I don't think anybody expected a show of this magnitude. Chuck told me earlier in the day that he was really gonna let it loose that night, and sure enough, he unleashed a Tasmanian monster of a show. The crowd was singing EVERY WORD to EVERY SONG...not just the refrain "Go Johnny Go", etc...Chuck just kept giving them back the love and playing even harder...One interesting fact: most of the crowd was in their 20's & 30's...I saw a lot of heavy metal t-shirts, Motorhead, Deep Purple/Whitesnake, etc...We should also give massive credit to Maguinho Alcantara, our Brazilian tour drummer...one of the baddest cats I've ever played with, end of story.
What a tour...I want to go back...NOW!!!! Rock & Roll=Brazil.
