Hello,

I am a huge Chuck Berry fan and my girfriend and I have travelled to St Louis to see the man perform at Blueberry Hill tomorrow night. We have tickets and are planning to get there early to eat and watch the opening act and to enjoy the show.

For me the only thing that could outshine the fact of seeing Chuck Berry perform is that I am planning to propose to the most wonderful girl in the world tomorrow night.

What I am wondering is, is there anything I could do to get Chuck Berry himself to help me propose at his show? It would be a big surprise to my girlfriend and I am sure it would make the entire occasion even more unforgettable.

I don't know if he ever performs "You Never Can Tell" but that song is one that inspired me to dream that he might be able to incorporate a quick marriage proposal into the show tomorrow night.

My name is Isaac Priestley, I am going to be at Blueberry Hill tomorrow night, November 18, with my girlfriend Darla. I don't know who I should talk to to make this happen but if anyone on this board (CBII for example) could possible put in a word for me and help make this happen, I would incredibly grateful.

I know it's a longshot but it would just be incredible.

Thank you.

If anyone wanted to get in touch with me you could contact me in a private message here on the board. I'd be happy to talk to anyone to prove I'm legit and that I really want to do this.

Thanks,
Isaac

Thanks for sharing that with us Bob.....I guess for their wedding as she is walking up the aisle it would be most appropriate to "You never can tell"....in honor of Mr C Berry.....Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Stefano, I was pretty excited that "You never can tell" was the first song Berry played that night, considering what I hoped would happen!

It was definitely a night to remember and everybody I know is pretty excited about how it happened.

Thanks to CBII for hooking it up and of course to Chuck Berry for playing a terrific show and starting Darla and me off in style!

If you've seen the film Hail Hail Rock n Roll , when Bruce Springsteen is talking about how he backed Chuck Berry before he was famous.....he talks about how he would be in his rocking chair talking to his grandchildren and "how he backed Chuck Berry"....Well your story is very similar....How and when did you propose to grandma...?.....Well....!!

I've included the link to the interview he says just that at 4.00 mins ENJOY....Ciao

Glad she said yes and glad you enjoyed yourselves. I think that's the first request for a marriage proposal. There have been plenty of happy birthday requests.

Come to think of it there were two very special things that night, your proposal and it being the 150th show in the Duck Room. Hopefully someone took pictures.

Name your first baby girl Nadine or Carol. That would put the icing on the cake!

Wow! Congratulations! This is a nice Thanksgiving story. And yes, Nadine would be a very nice choice for a girl's name-- but I would gladly cede "Tulane," which doesn't quite fit me, but which I TRIED to name my daughter. (Vetoed).

You sure do some (tried to write p-u-r-t-y but censorship got the best of it!) things for a rock guy, Mr. Berry!

Thanks! It continues to be a big hit with everyone we tell the story too and it will definitely be one of those things we tell our grandkids about, Springsteen-style!
