Chuck Berry with his St. Louis Band at the
Argosy Casino in Alton, Ill. February 18, 2012

here's the setlist -

Let It Rock !!
With a Scoot !!

Wee Wee Hours

My Dream
Chuck recites some of his poetry while Jimmy tunes the "ol' workhorse". Jimmy returns to the stage and its kinda comical as they play musical chairs with the guitars as Chuck has CBII's guitar, Jimmy has Chuck's and CBII has Jimmy's Bass Guitar and they have to pass them back to one and other !! :D

Nadine
Again a spectacular version of my favorite CB song !! :D :D

You Never Can Tell
aka - C'este La Vie

My Ding a Ling
In between songs Chuck tells the reason he still does this is that he loves his ol' guitar
its worn and battered but CB assures us it does stay in tune !!

Carol - Johnny B. Goode Medley

Maybelline

Rock Me Baby
Ingrid on harp and sings a few verses also....

Let It Rock
Ingrid wailing on harp - CB steps back and stands with Jimmy and CBII,
all three of them swinging and swaying their guitars together in unison !! :D

School Days
Ingrid on harmonica

Rock & Roll Music

Around and Around
Again Ingrid wails away on the mouth organ...

Key to the Highway
Ingrid sings the whole song here a powerfull rendition of the bluesy number....
CBII takes a solo and his guitar is screaming !!

Reelin and Rockin

House Lights
Chuck finishes with 2 Scoots !!

CBII Introduces the Band...

Darlin Ingrid Berry Clay
CB's daughter on Harmonica

Charles Berry Jr.
aka - CBII - the Son of Rock on Rhythm Guitar

Jimmy Marsala
The Bands Leader on Bass - he's been with CB for 39 years....

Bob Lohr
Piano Keyboard

Keith Robinson
Drums

A very, very good show Chuck played even better here then he did a few nights before. :D Come on people hire the man !! The more often he plays the better he gets !! - For a rundown of events see Tulane's blog at
http://goheadon.blogspot.com

I would like too give a special Thank You to Bob Lohr and the rest of the Band for a night I'll never forget........ :D :D :D

Doug :D

Thank you Busseybootlegger (a/k/a Doug Berry)! Both shows were wonderful and entirely different-- which is what makes it such a luxury to have experienced both of them. (I'd call them unforgettable but I have my usual neurological malfunctions!) The Blueberry Hill show was physical and funny, with Chuck cracking jokes and dancing all over the stage and even standing on one foot for a couple of bars. The Argosy show was musical and poetic, his singing never better, and the special treat of the poem. I've been lucky to see Chuck Berry a number of times, but he played things I've never heard him do live, like the poem, and Jambalaya. The band and Ingrid were incredible as ever (Key to the Highway was a knockout by all concerned). And the part that is so comforting for us lifelong Chuck Berry fans: every person involved: Bob, CBII, Ingrid, Jimmy, Keith, and Mr. Berry himself, turns out to be as kind as you could ever hope they might be. Thank you all! And that includes the other fans: Doug, Judy, Karen and Rebecca (and all you other who urged us on and shared by long distance.) A great four days!

I've posted my pictures on my website. Doug's are even better, so I'll wait for them here.

(I'm still working my way through the stories now that I'm back to a faster internet connection. The food alone was worth writing about.)

(Other) Peter
