I understand you very well. I was 12 and in high school in Australia. My generation all looked up to America, the gentle giant who had helped rid my dad's Europe of the right-wing Fascist menace together with the partisans
....we all loved the USA...I STILL do actually, BUT that tragedy viewed by my generation on channel 7 in Australia changed me shockingly FOREVER. Whenever a country turns its guns and kills its own citizens (be it USA, China, Russia, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Iran, etc.), it's HIGH time to change...it means democracy has GONE forever:):)!!!!
The tune "Monster" by Steppenwolf comes into my mind now....John Kay and his band were RIGHT after all!!!:)
