I was almost 9 years old but I remember that day like it was yesterday. The awful thing about it the protesters were RIGHT and were taken out for no good reason. Horrible, simply horrible.

I understand you very well. I was 12 and in high school in Australia. My generation all looked up to America, the gentle giant who had helped rid my dad's Europe of the right-wing Fascist menace together with the partisans :D ....we all loved the USA...I STILL do actually, BUT that tragedy viewed by my generation on channel 7 in Australia changed me shockingly FOREVER. Whenever a country turns its guns and kills its own citizens (be it USA, China, Russia, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Iran, etc.), it's HIGH time to change...it means democracy has GONE forever:):)!!!!
The tune "Monster" by Steppenwolf comes into my mind now....John Kay and his band were RIGHT after all!!!:)

Monster is a very powerful and thought provoking tune. It encapsulated that period perfectly.

Unfortunatley for all of us, it encapsulates the present world crisis perfectly more than ever before in the past:(
